How to enjoy sauna
For those who are new to sauna, here are some basic instructions on how to enter the sauna at Setonotsu.
-
Change into a swimsuit and take a shower before entering the sauna room
Please wear a bathing suit when using the sauna. Swimsuits and sauna ponchos are available for rent for 500 yen (tax included). Before entering the sauna, please take a shower to remove dirt and dust from your body. By removing dirt and dust, the sweat glands will open, making it easier to perspire.
-
Going to the sauna
To warm up your core, remove as much surface moisture as possible from your body before entering the sauna room.
Enter the sauna for 5-12 minutes, taking your own physical condition into consideration. -
Cooling your body in the cold water bath
Rinse off your sweat once in the shower and then enter the water bath.
The rule of thumb is to bathe for one to two minutes, but if you are not accustomed to this bathing, the water may feel very cold. In such cases, start by splashing water on your hands and feet and gradually get used to it. -
Rest in the outside air
After exiting the water bath, take a 5-10 minute break while sitting on a chair in the outdoor air bathing area.
While concentrating on your blood flow and heartbeat, meditate and take slow, deep breaths, which will also have a meditative effect. -
Repeat steps 2-4, 2 or 3 times
Repeat 2-4 a couple of times for a more relaxing sauna experience.
Adjust the time and frequency according to your own physical condition.
If you would like to enjoy hot springs as well as the sauna, we recommend that you use the hot spring facilities located a 5-minute walk from Setonoututu.
